Aww geez. My PC crashed. I got the blue screen when I try to boot. Some error message of 0x000000050. One of those meaningful hardware errors M$ came up with.
This always used to happen but I was convinced it was due to a faulty Firewire card I had in the box. Sometimes if I removed the Firewire card the server would boot ok sometimes not. Sometimes if I left the Firewire card in it would boot and I could save video (that's what I used the FW card for) etc but then upon a reboot it would crash until I removed the FW card.
I think I was fooled. I think the computer hardware (motherboard) was just faulty and erratic. Eventually, like today, I couldn't boot no matter what I did.
I eventually removed the hard disk and placed into my development server, which is almost an identical MB (thank goodness), and everything worked great.
I am happy now. And I even did four, yes, count em, FOUR image backups since then.
It's an awful feeling when your personal PC is not working. Just thinking about what you are going to have to go thru in the next few days or even weeks to get it going.
It's not like a client's machine and you simply say, "Sorry, you didn't back up. I told you to back up. The best I can do is to get you a new computer install the OS and your applications."
And under those conditions I even get paid!
I don't get paid to fix my own computer, but it's something that has to be done and has to be done PRONTO!
