I found this very cool and comprehensive HTML editor last night.
I am very excited about this find. It is very worthy of a review but I just can't wait.
Staying up late last night, poking around the w3.org site to learn a little css, I came upon this link to http://www.chami.com/ They have an HTML, and everything else, editor that will blow you away. I never thought I was to sheltered in this Internet world, I mean, I've been around, I've searched for and used a ton of different editors.
Let's see, I've used- HomeSite
- HotMetal Pro
- Sausage.com's Hot Dog Pro
- Edit Tab PRO
- Edit Plus
- EvrSoft
- FTP Editor
- and all the ones I forgot!
But, I've never found the HTML-kit...till last night!
The HTML-kit is chock full of everything you need. If it doesn't have it there are plenty of plug-ins that other people have written that will perform the task at hand.
The one thing that really impressed me was the wealth of help available. Place your cursor within a tag, right click and select keyword help. If the help file is not within the editor it goes on-line and retrieves the help for the tag. HTML-kit may overwhelm you in the beginning, I feel that way, but everything takes some getting used to.
While a bit confusing at first, HTML-kit is a terrific piece of software.
HTML-kit is fast too. Even with all the stuff it provides it loads fast and plays fast. It has an editor mode and a preview mode. It has a real-time preview mode where you can split the screen and watch your page update while you make changes.
I really, really like the FTP client to load files to my sites and download files for editing. The best thing here is that the FTP client lets you change ports *and* allows you to set passive mode. I need passive mode for listing files. Other editors and software I own that allow FTP transfers do not allow passive mode. So, this feature in HTML-Kit is real good news for me.
I only had the HTML-kit on my computer for 8 hours before deciding to give up my $55 to register. Really, though, I wanted the nifty HTML-Kit Table Designer Pro plug in and the only way to get it is to register the HTML-kit. This provided the added incentive to register early!
Actually, I think the core HTML-Kit is free.
I don't have time here, today, to post a review of this thing but anyway, it is a product that you have just got to see. If you are like me, and like to use great tools, this is the HTML editor for you.
Go take a look!
